Your professional and certified instructor (FX Gagnon, CAA professional member) will teach you a palette of tricks and skills to jump-start your winter backcountry adventures. Through proper terrain assessment and decision making techniques, you will be able to recognize, manage, and minimize avalanche hazards and reduce your risks.

AST-1 is a jam-packed course focused on terrain assessment and companion rescue when avalanche hazards exist. This course is the perfect compliment to your wilderness first aid training and will allow you to feel more confident when earning your turns in the backcountry.

Snowshoeing FEBRUARY 23-24, 2019

Backcountry Skiing MARCH 2-3, 2019

Pricing includes safety equipment rental (beacon, probe, shovel). Skis not provided. Instructor may be able to accommodate snowshoe rentals- see your instructor for more information.
