Focused on Fundamentals
This one-day course upgrades current holders of our Backcountry Emergencies Certification to Red Cross Wilderness & Remote First Aid with CPR-C. The day rounds out a comprehensive fundamentals course that is ideal for casual campers or day hikers, with a strong focus on hands-on scenarios and low-resource, improvised techniques.
This course is also recognized by most companies as equivalent to Standard First Aid with CPR-C. The actual SFA certification can be added, if necessary, for $25.

WHAT IS RED CROSS WILDERNESS FIRST AID?
This 20 hour introductory course that focuses on general medical concepts, basic life support skills, and low-resource options for basic first aid treatments. Standard Wilderness First Aid is the best course for outdoor enthusiasts on day trips and short adventures, offering relevant and realistic first aid training with an unparalleled focus on hands-on practice. Furthermore, this course earns you a Red Cross certification - so you know that your training and effort will be recognized across Canada, and around the world!
WHERE IS IT HELD?
The Stratford Hall Bridge Course will be held at Pacific Spirit Park, on the Camosun Trail. We will meet at 9 AM at the trailhead, at Camosun Street and 19th Avenue.

ACCOMPANYING MEDICAL KITS
All medical supplies are provided, but any of our basic level medical kits would complement this course and give students the tools necessary to utilize their new medical skills. View kits here.
KEY TOPICS COVERED
The WFA includes a broad range of introductory medical skills and topics, including patient assessment, lifting and moving patients, cold and heat emergencies, altitude, immersion, submersion, lightning, legal considerations, and more. Students also learn how to effectively manage basic wounds, infection, shock, head injuries, spinal injuries, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, abdominal pain, metabolic and allergic reactions, and altered mental states.

Red Cross Wilderness & Remote First Aid with CPR/AED 'C'
This certification completely includes the Red Cross 2 Day Standard First Aid Certification.
This certification is valid for up to 3 years.
Annual recertification options will maintain skills and certifications, and offer special topics for focused learning.
ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATION BENEFITS
Holders of a valid certification are eligible to upgrade to an Advanced Wilderness & Remote First Aid certification with a 20 hour bridge course.
Current WFA Certificate holders are invited to keep skills sharp with our regularly scheduled night scenarios.
Free refresher courses for those who wish to practice or touch up specific skills.
One day WFA recertification.
