Are you are ready to take your hard-earned skills and knowledge to the next level? Do you have a passion for learning and teaching? Does the idea of seeing new students develop into competent wilderness first aiders excite you?

If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, Coast Wilderness Medical Training’s Instructor Training Program might be for you. Our program is Canadian Red Cross certified - your instructor credentials will be recognized across Canada!

Prerequisites

Required

  • Unexpired Canadian Red Cross Remote First Aid, Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification.

  • Wilderness First Aid skills assessment, supervised and signed by a CRC wilderness first aid instructor, instructor trainer, or teaching experience supervisor. (If required, contact us to arrange a skills assessment.)

Recommended

  • Certification at a level higher than the course you intend to teach.

  • Experience in a professional role that includes leadership and provision of medical care, such as outdoor guide, outdoor activity instructor, search and rescue, ski patrol, or professional responder.

What’s Included?

  • Pre-course advice and coaching from your instructor trainer.

  • 2 day Fundamentals of Instruction training.

  • 2 day discipline-specific Wilderness First Aid Instructor training.

  • All learner materials and equipment.

  • Access to Coast Wilderness Medical Training lesson plans.

  • One supervised teaching experience (required for completion of your certification; if you are unsuccessful, subsequent attempts are subject to a TE fee.)

Outdoor Components: Pacific Spirit Park

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 9 AM - 5 PM
